Kabul, Afghanistan – Former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani expressed his deep sorrow and profound regret for the human and material losses caused

by the devastating earthquake in northern Afghanistan.

Especially in the provinces of Balkh and Samangan, expressing his heartfelt solidarity with the families of the victims and the injured.

Ghani said in a post on the social networking site x that he feels great pain for what has befallen his countrymen as a result of the natural disaster.

Praying to God to grant the wounded a speedy recovery, and to have mercy on the victims and grant them spacious gardens in Paradise.

The depth of national and humanitarian ties

He added: “My heart goes out to all those affected,

and I share my prayers and sorrow with them.”

Ghani praised the extensive assistance provided by Afghan citizens both inside and outside the country.

He specifically thanked those who always rush from abroad to support their fellow citizens in times of crisis.

ANDHe considered this evidence of the depth of national and human ties between them.

He quoted the words of Mawlana Jalaluddin Rumi,

who was born in Balkh,

He said that the Afghans have not strayed from their origins,

but are still “seeking a day of reunion.”

Adherence to national unity

Ghani also stressed that the pain that unites Afghans is greater than any divisions.

He called for adherence to national unity and not allowing

any party to divide them under different names.

On another front, the former president criticized the lack of transparency

in the management of international aid.

He pointed out that the United Nations has not provided clear reports

for decades showing the amount of money,

Which actually reached the Afghan people,

compared to what was spent on administrative expenses.

He called for the establishment of independent oversight mechanisms

to ensure that support reaches those who deserve it.

Afghanistan is no longer isolated

Ghani also pointed out that Afghanistan is no longer as economically isolated as it once was.

He emphasized that its openness to Central Asian countries contributed

to expanding trade through the ports of Hayrtan and Akina.

He called on the current government to publish transparent reports on revenues and expenditures to ensure the proper management of national resources.

Back to the essence of religion

Ghani concluded his statement with a symbolic message from the city of Balkh,

the birthplace of Maulana Rumi,

He said that the earthquake reminds Afghans of the need to return to

the essence of religion and understand it from the heart, not from appearances.

He emphasized that the Afghan nation has been and still is

a great contributor to the history of the golden age of Islamic civilization.
