Cairo, Egypt – The opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum began a short while ago in the presence of 79 official delegations,
including presidents, kings and heads of government.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and his wife received the participating delegations.
The largest museum in the world
Egypt will open the Grand Egyptian Museum on November 1, 2025.
After years of delays and preparations, it will become the world’s
largest museum dedicated to ancient Egyptian civilization.
This opening comes as a significant step in a long process of building
an institution that showcases the antiquities of Pharaonic Egypt,
In a modern framework that combines museum displays with digital technologies.
Promoting cultural tourism
This project has been in development for over twenty years.
At a time when the Egyptian state is working to promote cultural tourism,
And to offer a new experience for visitors that combines history
and a location overlooking the Giza pyramids.
Cultural event of the century
Egyptian officials describe the opening as “the cultural event of the century”.
Because, according to them, it is not just about inaugurating a new building,
Rather, it is “the culmination of a long journey of dreaming
and working that began in the 1990s.”
