Moscow, Russia – The Russian Foreign Ministry affirmed Moscow’s determination to strengthen economic and nuclear cooperation with Iran, despite what it described as “illegitimate Western pressure” aimed at restricting relations between the two countries.
The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman said that Russia and Iran enjoy a solid strategic partnership, based on common interests and mutual respect. He added that cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy, trade, and nuclear technology will continue and will not be affected by Western dictates or sanctions.
He added that Moscow views Tehran as a reliable partner in confronting unilateral Western policies. He noted that the two countries are working to expand trade and are developing joint projects in the infrastructure and peaceful nuclear energy sectors.
These statements come at a time of escalating tensions between Russia and the West over the Ukrainian crisis. Tehran and Moscow are seeking to build an alternative economic and technological axis. This axis aims to mitigate the effects of sanctions and enhance economic decision-making independence.
