ROME, Italy – Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala announced that the sale of the San Siro stadium and surrounding areas to AC Milan and Inter Milan will be completed by Friday. “We believe the document will be finalized by Friday. We are currently working on it with the notary and the teams,” Sala said on the sidelines of the opening of the Rompon Market.
Regarding the future project for the new facility, the City Council approved a proposal to build it with a capacity of 10,000 people. It will be equipped for bicycles and cargo bikes. The mayor noted that the project represents “an opportunity to change fans’ habits,” adding, “In San Siro, you can ride a bike, whereas in San Donato, it would have been very difficult.”
This announcement comes as football fans and the city alike await the completion of the deal, which will redefine the future of one of Milan’s most iconic sporting landmarks.
