Doha, Qatar – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan arrived in the Qatari capital, Doha, on Wednesday for an official visit,concluding his Gulf tour that also included Kuwait and the Sultanate of Oman, with the aim of strengthening economic and political cooperation between Turkey and the Gulf states.
During the visit, Erdogan will participate in the 11th meeting of the Qatari-Turkish Supreme Strategic Committee.
Alongside the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, a number of new bilateral agreements are expected to be signed in the fields of investment, energy, defense, and transportation.
Erdogan’s visit comes after stops in Kuwait and Muscat, which focused on discussing ways to support Gulf-Turkish relations.
Coordinating regional positions, especially the Gaza issue and relations with the Arab world.
Doha is one of Turkey’s most important strategic partners in the region.
Relations between the two countries have witnessed continuous development since the establishment of the Joint Strategic Committee in 2014.
As well as close cooperation in the areas of security, investment and humanitarian aid.
Observers confirm that the Turkish President’s Gulf tour aims to consolidate Turkey’s role in the Arabian Gulf.
It also aims to strengthen Ankara’s economic presence in light of the accelerating regional transformations.
