Palestine, Agencies – The World Health Organization announced that it has successfully vaccinated 90% of children in the Gaza Strip against polio, despite the difficult humanitarian and security challenges facing the Strip since the outbreak of war.
The organization emphasized that this achievement was the result of close cooperation between its field teams, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), and the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
The campaign was carried out under exceptional circumstances in the affected areas, amid severe shortages of fuel and medical supplies.
The organization explained that vaccination teams were able to reach most of the targeted children in various areas of the sector.

Noting that the campaign targeted children under the age of five as part of an urgent response plan to prevent the spread of the disease.
The World Health Organization has emphasized that protecting children from polio is a “top priority.”
