ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – Pakistani officials announced Wednesday that 20 Afghan Taliban fighters and six members of a Pakistani paramilitary force were killed in an armed clash near the Afghan border.
The Pakistani military said that approximately 20 Afghan Taliban members were killed in border clashes.
“Early Wednesday morning, an attack was carried out by the Afghan Taliban along the border,” the military said in a statement.
He added, “In response to the attack, between 15 and 20 Afghan Taliban members were killed and others were wounded.”
Meanwhile, Pakistani officials said that six members of the Pakistani paramilitary forces were killed in a clash with militants near the Afghan border.

Afghan officials had previously announced that 15 civilians had been killed and 100 injured in border clashes with Pakistani forces.
Taliban government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid accused Pakistani forces of carrying out attacks “again.”
Using “light and heavy” weapons in the Spin Boldak area.
Mujahid said in a statement that 12 civilians were killed and 100 others were injured.
The statement did not mention any casualties among the security forces.
Ali Mohammad Haqmal, spokesman for the media department in Afghanistan’s Spin Boldak district, said clashes took place overnight in the Spin Boldak district.
He pointed out that 15 civilians were killed and more than 80 women and children were injured.
