Cairo, Egypt – The Egyptian presidency announced on Monday that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will participate in the Sharm El-Sheikh summit.

This is in order to consolidate the agreement to stop the war in Gaza and confirm commitment to it.

The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic explained: “President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call today from US President Donald Trump. Trump was in Israel, accompanied by the Israeli Prime Minister, who also spoke with the President. It was agreed that he would attend the peace summit in which Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas would participate”.

For its part, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority revealed that Netanyahu spoke by phone with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

She indicated that he will participate in the Sharm El-Sheikh summit.

Before that, the newspaper “Israel Hayom” revealed that US President Donald Trump and Netanyahu are studying the possibility of the latter joining the Sharm El-Sheikh summit.

The newspaper explained that Trump was the one who proposed the proposal.

She pointed out that he proposed it to Netanyahu during their joint trip from Ben Gurion Airport to the Knesset.

For her part.. Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper confirmed the news, saying that “the issue is under investigation.”

Reuters also quoted an Israeli official as saying: “Netanyahu is considering accompanying Trump to attend the Gaza summit in Egypt.”

Israel announced on Sunday that it would not send any of its representatives to the Sharm el-Sheikh summit.

It is noteworthy that after his short visit to Israel, Trump heads to Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt. He will chair, with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, a summit for “peace” in Gaza.

In the presence of leaders of more than 20 countries and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres.

The rule of the Gaza Strip, which has been devastated by the two-year war, will be one of the topics of the summit in the coming period.

The countries that mediated the ceasefire will sign a document guaranteeing its implementation.

This concerns the United States, Egypt, Qatar, and perhaps Türkiye.
