Kuram, Pakistan – Militants ambushed a military convoy in Pakistan near the border with Afghanistan on Wednesday, sources said.
Which resulted in the killing of nine soldiers and two paramilitary officers.
The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
Five Pakistani security officials said roadside bombs hit the convoy, before a large number of militants launched an armed attack in the northwestern Kurram district.
The Pakistani Taliban said its fighters attacked the convoy.
The Pakistani Taliban seeks to overthrow the government to establish a system of government based on its strict interpretation of Sharia law.
In recent months, it has intensified its attacks on Pakistani security forces.
Islamabad says militants are using neighboring Afghanistan as a base to train and plan attacks on Pakistan, which Kabul denies.
