Sanaa, Yemen – The Houthi group in Yemen announced, on Monday, the implementation of a military operation against targets it described as “sensitive” in Israel.
This was done using a hypersonic ballistic missile and two drones.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said in a statement, “The missile force fired a Palestine-2 multi-head fission ballistic missile at sensitive targets in the occupied Jaffa area, achieving precise hits”.
He added that the Air Force targeted “vital targets” with two drones. These drones were used in the Umm al-Rashrash (Eilat) area in southern Israel.
He stressed that “operations will continue until the aggression on Gaza stops and the siege is lifted.”
In contrast, the Israeli army announced in a statement early Monday morning. It stated that it had intercepted a missile launched from Yemen.
He pointed out that sirens sounded in several areas, without any injuries or damage being recorded.
The Iranian-backed Houthi group has intensified its rocket attacks. Also, their marches against Israel have increased since the outbreak of war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip in October 2023.
Tel Aviv is responding with airstrikes on targets inside Yemen that it says are linked to the Houthis’ military capabilities.
