Tehran, Iran – Authorities executed a man named Bahman Chobi Asl on Monday, Iran’s judiciary’s Mizan News Agency reported.
She said the accused was “one of Israel’s most important spies in Iran.”
Tehran executed many individuals it accuses of having links to the Israeli intelligence service (Mossad) and facilitating its operations in the country.
Iran has been waging a shadow war with Israel for decades in the field of espionage.
Mizan Agency said: “Mossad’s main goal in attracting the accused’s cooperation was to obtain the database of government institutions and hack Iranian data centers, in addition to that, it sought to achieve other secondary goals, including exploring the path of importing electronic equipment”.
She added that the Supreme Court rejected the accused’s appeal and confirmed the death sentence on charges of “corruption on earth”.
The Iranian-Israeli conflict escalated into a direct war in June when Israel bombed various targets inside Iran.
This included carrying out operations that relied on deploying Mossad special forces deep inside the country.
Executions of Iranians convicted of spying for Israel have increased dramatically this year.
At least 10 rulings have been implemented in the past few months.
