Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan – Crude oil exports from Iraqi Kurdistan fields resumed Saturday morning.

This comes after a two-and-a-half-year hiatus due to legal disputes and technical problems.

The Iraqi News Agency said that on Saturday morning, “oil exports from the fields of the Kurdistan region of Iraq resumed”.

This is for the first time since Türkiye closed a pipeline in March 2023.

The Kurdish Rudaw network reported that the flow of crude oil through a pipeline from the Kurdistan region of Iraq to Turkey resumed for the first time in two and a half years. This occurred after an interim agreement that ended the crisis.

Iraqi Oil Minister Hayyan Abdul Ghani said on Friday that the agreement between the Iraqi federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq will witness the flow of between 180,000 and 190,000 barrels per day. In addition, foreign oil producers operating in the region will contribute to the oil flowing to the Turkish port of Ceyhan.
