Cairo, Egypt – Israeli media outlets, including i24NEWS, have accused Egypt of turning a blind eye to the smuggling of weapons via drones from Sinai into Israel, describing the phenomenon as “worsening daily and posing a serious threat.”

A firm Egyptian response: “Lies without evidence.”

Major General Hisham Al-Halabi, a lecturer at the Egyptian Military Academy, confirmed that these allegations are not based on any tangible evidence. He explained, “Shooting down aircraft means there is debris… so where is it?”

He pointed out that the multinational force is the body responsible for monitoring security arrangements in accordance with the peace treaty. He added that if there were any violations, it should have been officially reported.

Objective: To justify the occupation of the Philadelphi Corridor

Al-Halabi considered the talk of smuggling “100 drones” to Tel Aviv to be devoid of legal and military logic. He pointed out that Israel is promoting these lies to pressure Egypt, to cover up its military failure in Gaza, and to justify its ambitions to control the strategic Philadelphi Corridor.

A recurring scenario to damage Egypt’s reputation

Major General Mohamed Abdel Wahid, a national security expert, stressed that this is not the first time Israel has resorted to such allegations. He explained that the danger lies in its attempt to portray Sinai as if it were outside the control of the Egyptian state. He added that the presence of three Israeli military divisions inside Gaza and complete air control make such smuggling impossible. He believed that the Israeli media campaign aims to distract domestic public opinion and also seeks to divert attention from the failure of the military operations in the Strip.
