Washington, United States – US President Donald Trump said he is ready to impose sanctions on Russia.

But he stipulated that Europe must act in a way that suits the United States.

“Europe buys oil from Russia,” he told reporters. I don’t want them to buy oil.”

He continued: “The sanctions they impose are not strict enough, and I am ready to impose sanctions, but they must tighten their sanctions in proportion to what I do”.

Since the outbreak of war in Ukraine, the United States and Europe have moved to impose broad economic sanctions against Russia.

However, the power file remained the most sensitive file.

While Washington does not depend on Russian oil and seeks to deprive Moscow of its revenues, several European countries depend on it to varying degrees.

Which made her adopt less severe penalties.

Trump’s recent statements reflect this discrepancy, and restore tension between the two sides of the Atlantic over how to manage sanctions and energy weapons.
