China simultaneously aims to influence US influence in Asia/Agencies

Taipei, Taiwan – China is preparing for war with the aim of annexing Taiwan, a Taiwanese official said on Saturday.

He added that China simultaneously aims to influence US influence in Asia and replace it as a global leader.

Qiu Choicheng, chairman of the Taiwan Mainland Affairs Council, explained to the Washington-based Heritage Foundation that China’s ruling Communist Party has long refused to abandon the use of force against Taiwan. Beijing considers Taiwan part of its territory.

He added that China, in its quest for “unity with Taiwan,” aims to exclude American influence from the Asia-Pacific region.

In addition, China aims to eventually replace the United States as a global leader. They want “to restore national glory and realize what is called the Chinese dream”.

He noted that Beijing is “actively preparing for war” and highlighted the intensification of Chinese military activity around the island.

“If China seizes Taiwan by force, it will have a cascading effect. This will undermine the regional balance of power,” he said.

It also directly threatens the security and prosperity of the United States.

He stressed that Taiwan, the world’s leading producer of advanced electronic chips, is a global center for high technology.

He continued: “If Taiwan’s role in this field is compromised, it will be a great loss to the international community. This is especially true for the United States and its technology sector”.
