NEW YORK, United States – US President Donald Trump is expected to meet with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in New York on Friday evening.

This is to discuss the repercussions of the Israeli raid on Hamas leaders in Doha, according to two informed sources.

This meeting is another way for Trump to indicate his support for Doha and his opposition to the Israeli raid.

As for the Qatari side, the meeting with Trump is considered part of a Qatari diplomatic campaign. It aims to increase international pressure on Israel to end the war in Gaza.

The Qatari Prime Minister will arrive in Washington, D.C., on Friday. He will meet with Secretary of State Rubio at the White House.

Two informed sources also reported that Al Thani also intends to meet with US Vice President J.D. Vance.

US-Qatari security agreement

Among the issues that Al Thani will discuss in his talks in Washington is a US-Qatari security agreement. This is according to informed sources.

The information came after Qatar confirmed on Thursday that the claim about re-evaluating its security partnership with the United States was “completely false.”

She stressed that its security and defense relations with Washington are “stronger than ever and continue to grow.”

She considered the allegation previously reported by Axios to be a “desperate attempt” to harm her relationship with America.

The Qatari Prime Minister also accused Israel of ignoring hostages in the Gaza Strip. They did this when they attacked Hamas leaders in Doha.

But at the same time, he pledged not to abandon efforts to end the war. The war has been ongoing in Gaza for nearly two years.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani said at an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council yesterday evening. He stated that Israel had exceeded “all borders and restrictions” by launching a raid on the Qatari capital this week. This violated his country’s sovereignty and threatened regional peace.

In addition, he considered that “Israel is trying to rearrange the region by force”.

It is noteworthy that the surprise air strike carried out by Israel on a complex in Doha last Tuesday.

The raid killed at least six people as Hamas leaders met to consider a US proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza.

The Israeli strike threatened to derail negotiations. These were brokered by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States. It increased Israel’s global isolation, including condemnation of the attack by the United Nations Security Council.
