Kyiv, Ukraine – In Kiev today, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that his top negotiators will head to the United States.

This is to hold talks on security guarantees for his country in light of the ongoing Russian war.

This came in conjunction with the Russian attack with marches and missiles on the capital, Kiev.

Zelensky said in a speech on Wednesday night that his chief of staff, Andrei Yermak, and former Defense Minister Rustam Umarov will meet with American officials in New York tomorrow, Friday.

“Quick move”

Zelensky also explained that “everyone who works on the content of security guarantees will participate in the military, political and economic aspects”.

He pointed out that “the task is to move as quickly as possible so that this also becomes a pressure tool” on Russia.

He considered that “the Russians must see the seriousness of the world’s position and the extent of the consequences if the war continues”.

Trump.. Disappointment with Moscow

In addition, Zelensky accused Moscow of refusing to negotiate and breaking a promise it had made to US President Donald Trump.

While US envoy Steve Witkov expressed Trump’s disappointment with the course of the Russian-Ukrainian war and the positions of both sides.

The security guarantees aim to protect Ukraine from any renewed Russian aggression after the end of the war.

While the United States intends to participate, the bulk of military support is expected to come from European countries.

Russia has categorically refused to deploy NATO forces on Ukrainian territory.

It is noteworthy that so far, the US President’s efforts to achieve a breakthrough have failed despite holding two consecutive summits, the first with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, and the second with Zelensky and European allies in Washington last week.
