Tehran, Iran – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi announced that his country has not yet reached the maturity stage of negotiations with America.
Araqchi added in statements on Wednesday that Iran has not yet reached a basis for negotiations with Europe.
He also considered that “relations with the IAEA cannot be completely severed.”
Open communication
Araqchi explained 10 days ago that “any decision has not yet been made” regarding the return of negotiations with the American side.
On the other hand, he refrained from naming any country to host any potential talks.
Meanwhile, Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister for Political Affairs and member of the negotiating delegation, Majid Takht Ravanchi, hinted at the time at the possibility of reducing nuclear activities. This could be in exchange for lifting US sanctions.
He said that his country “could agree, within a fair and profitable agreement, to specific time restrictions on peaceful nuclear activities”. This would be in exchange for lifting sanctions.
He also revealed that channels of communication with the United States remain open through intermediaries.
Negotiating rounds
It is noteworthy that five rounds of indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States, mediated by Oman, ended this year. Unfortunately, they ended without results.
This was before the start of the Israeli attack against Iran. Additionally, the strikes carried out by American forces on Iranian nuclear facilities occurred last June.
Representatives of the European Troika countries also held negotiations with Tehran before the 12-day Israeli-Iranian war.
But they failed to play a mediating role in concluding a new agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue.
