Damascus, Syria – Excluding the scenario of dividing the country, saying that its factors are “unavailable and almost impossible in Syria”. Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa affirmed the unity of Syrian territory.

Al-Sharaa, in a dialogue session attended by a number of ministers, with academics, politicians, members of professional unions and dignitaries in Idlib Governorate, said: “Whoever demands division in Syria has political ignorance and is a dreamer. Often, dreamy ideas lead their owners to suicide.”

He added: “I do not see that Syria has the risks of division. Some people have desires for the process of dividing Syria. They try to create local and internal cantons. Logically, politically and ethnically, this is impossible to happen.”

On the other hand, Sharia warned against “passive competition, gluttony for positions, political sharing, and the search for roles.”

He stressed that this affects the structure of society. Especially since we are in the state-building phase, which has different circumstances, he said.

He pointed out that “it is very difficult for some parties to seek the help of regional powers, such as Israel”.

He justified this by saying that the southern region is densely populated. Any enemy who wants to enter it will have to put a policeman at the door of every house. This is difficult in reality.

Regarding the recent events in As-Suwayda Governorate, Al-Sharaa stressed that the state is committed to holding perpetrators of violations in As-Suwayda accountable.
