Stockholm, Sweden – Agencies Two people were injured in a shooting on Friday near a mosque in the Swedish city of Örebro, west of Stockholm.

Swedish police said in a statement that they suspected a shooting near a mosque in Örebro.

Local media reported that a person was shot as he left the mosque, noting that police were heavily present at the scene, and ambulances were called.

Swedish police urged people to stay away from the area, which has been cordoned off.

“Police are conducting a large-scale operation regarding a serious violent crime near a mosque,” a local Swiss radio station said.

The alert was received at 1:45 p.m., according to a police statement.

“A preliminary investigation has been opened into an attempted murder,” police said in a later statement. Two people connected to the shooting were injured.

No details were provided about the circumstances of the incident or whether the perpetrator was arrested.
