Army units responded to sources of fire "within the rules of engagement"/agencies

Aleppo, Syria – The Information and Communications Department of the Syrian Ministry of Defense said on Tuesday that two groups of the Syrian Democratic Forces “SDF” infiltrated towards Syrian army deployment points in the Tal Maaz area, east of Aleppo, during the night, leading to the outbreak of violent clashes that resulted in the death of an army soldier.

The statement added that army units responded to the sources of fire “within the rules of engagement” and thwarted the infiltration operation, forcing the attacking forces to withdraw to their original positions.

He pointed out that this escalation comes at a time when the SDF continues to target army positions in the Manbij and Deir Hafer regions, in addition to intermittently closing some roads in the city of Aleppo from their positions near the Al-Layramoun roundabout.

The Ministry of Defense confirmed that the continuation of infiltration, bombing and provocation operations will lead to “new consequences”, calling on the SDF to adhere to the agreements signed with the Syrian state and stop targeting army personnel and residents in Aleppo and its eastern countryside.
