Mexico City, Mexico – An international team of archaeologists announced through news agencies the discovery of a Maya civilization city that remained hidden amid dense forests for centuries. This scientific achievement is considered one of the most prominent archaeological discoveries in Central America in recent years. It reveals new and stunning details about the life of one of the most developed and mysterious ancient civilizations.

Details of the Discovered City and Its History

Researchers explained in this context that the discovered city did not have any circulating name in historical records for nearly a thousand years. This archaeological area includes an integrated set of buildings, public squares, temples, and extended stone roads. In addition to massive facilities believed to have been used for highly important administrative and religious purposes. This strongly indicates that it was a major urban center during the flourishing period of the Maya civilization.

Sensing Technologies Penetrate the Forests

The location of this historical city was identified using advanced laser sensing technologies that have revolutionized the field of archaeology. This modern technology enabled scientists to penetrate the dense vegetation cover and draw accurate maps of the terrain and buried facilities. This occurred before specialized field missions began to confirm the existence of these antiquities physically on the ground.

Urban Planning Reflecting Development

Archaeologists confirmed through their studies that the urban design of the city reflects a very advanced level of planning and architecture. The site includes spacious squares, elevated buildings, and a complex network of roads connecting its various vital parts. This reinforces the prevailing belief that the city represented an influential political and economic center in that vital region.

New Horizons for Understanding Maya History

Concerned researchers believe that this archaeological discovery will greatly contribute to redrawing the map of the Maya civilization’s spread clearly. It will also help in understanding the reasons for the prosperity of this ancient civilization and its subsequent decline across different eras. This achievement will open the door wide for more excavation works and studies to uncover other archaeological sites that are still hidden. Thus adding new and important information to the history of one of the greatest ancient civilizations in the discovered world.
