Cairo, Egypt – The Public Prosecution in 6th of October City ordered an autopsy of the body of Egyptian artist Saeed Mokhtar (56 years old),
to determine the exact details of the cause of death and the type of injuries.
This comes after he was stabbed to death last Thursday (December 4, 2025),
following a heated argument with his ex-wife’s husband in front of the Wadi Degla Club.
The prosecution also requested a detailed medical report on the condition of the victim
and the injured (accused) who participated in the incident,
who sustained minor injuries.
Details of the incident: Family disputes and a custody ruling
According to the investigations, the incident dates back to family disputes
between the late artist Saeed Mukhtar and his ex-wife, which ended in divorce.
Tensions escalated after the ex-wife entered into a customary marriage
with a man named Atef A. (61 years old) three months ago.
Course of events
The artist went to the club to see his son Yassin (9 years old) in compliance
with a court ruling regarding visitation.
When he saw his son inside a car with his new husband, Mukhtar stopped the car.
This led to a verbal altercation that escalated into a physical fight.
During the altercation, the accused drew a bladed weapon (knife)
and inflicted three stab wounds on Said Mukhtar’s chest.
The stab wounds caused his death before he reached the hospital.
The son, Yassin (9 years old), witnessed the entire crime,
while the ex-wife left the scene immediately after it occurred.
This is according to the deceased’s lawyer,
who confirmed that Mukhtar was not carrying a weapon.
Legal procedures
The accused, Atef A., and his ex-wife were arrested
immediately after the incident.
The accused confessed to some details
during the investigations.
The Public Prosecution ordered the accused to be detained
for four days pending investigations.
This is pending the release of the autopsy report
and ongoing investigations to uncover all the circumstances.
This includes the role of customary marriage
and past disputes in escalating the conflict.
The family is currently waiting for the issuance of a burial permit to hold
the funeral of the late artist Saeed Mukhtar.

He participated in prominent dramas including “Zahra

His sudden death caused widespread shock in the Egyptian artistic community.
