Cairo, Egypt – The film “The Ladder and the Snake 2” (also known as “The Ladder and the Snake: Child’s Play”) continued its dominance at the Egyptian box office. It grossed EGP 2,549,071 on its second day of release, Wednesday, November 12, 2025, thus maintaining its number one position among competing films.
This figure comes after its opening day, which saw revenues of £2,074,627. Thus, its total revenue after 48 hours reached £4,623,698 from the sale of approximately 27,700 tickets.
Revenue and competition details
“Snakes and Ladders 2” outperformed its direct competitor, “Gentlemen,” which came in second with lower box office earnings. This reflects the film’s strong public appeal, despite criticism regarding some profanity and controversial scenes.
On the second day alone, approximately 15,800 tickets were sold. This indicates continued strong public interest and is a strong indicator of the start of a thriving film season.
About the film and the artistic crew
The film tells a contemporary love story between Ahmed (Amr Youssef) and Malak (Asmaa Galal), focusing on issues of human relationships and the conflict between heart and logic in a modern world full of emotional challenges.
The film was directed and written by Tarek El-Erian in collaboration with Ahmed Hosny. It stars Amr Youssef, Asmaa Galal, Dhafer L’Abidine, Maged El-Masry, Hatem Salah, Fadwa Abed, Heba Abdel Aziz, and Aya Selim. There are also guest appearances by Sawsan Badr.
