Mexico City, Mexico – In a move aimed at enhancing road safety and protecting passengers and drivers, Mexican authorities have announced a ban on consuming coffee
and hot drinks inside public and private transportation while driving.
This comes after an increase in accidents related to driver distraction.
The Mexican Ministry of Transportation confirmed that the new decision comes
as part of a national campaign bearing the slogan “Passenger safety first”.
These include awareness campaigns and field operations to monitor drivers in major cities.
Fines will be imposed on those who violate the instructions.
coffee.. Deadly danger on the road
Traffic experts in Mexico point out that the habit of drinking coffee
while driving has become a daily phenomenon for millions of citizens, especially in the morning hours.
They stressed that this simple habit could turn into a deadly danger on the road in an instant.
For their part, many passengers welcomed the move, considering
it a message of civilized awareness rather than a punitive measure.
Others, however, saw Mexico as potentially being the first Latin American country
to bid farewell to the “morning coffee” ritual for everyone’s safety.
