Kuwait – The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) announced a precautionary reduction in crude oil production and refining operations due to regional tensions, repeated attacks in the region, and threats to maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement carried by the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), KPC explained that this decision is part of its approved risk management strategy, which aims to ensure the continuity of oil operations and protect facilities and personnel in light of the current security developments in Kuwait.

Temporary precautionary measure

The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) confirmed that the production cut is a purely precautionary measure, explaining that it will be subject to continuous review based on developments in the region.

KPC added that it is constantly monitoring the situation and that any future decisions will be based on a thorough assessment of the security and economic conditions surrounding Kuwait’s energy sector.

Securing the needs of the local market

The corporation reassured the public that the local market’s needs for petroleum products remain fully met according to pre-established operational plans.

It noted that supply and distribution operations are proceeding normally, with sufficient reserves to ensure the stability of the local market and prevent it from being affected by current precautionary measures. Furthermore, Kuwait remains committed to strengthening the country’s economic security.

Commitment to protecting workers and stabilizing the market

In its concluding statement, the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation reiterated that the safety of its employees remains its top priority, alongside protecting national resources and vital oil sector facilities.

It also emphasized its continued commitment to supporting the stability of global energy markets, affirming its full readiness to restore normal production levels as soon as conditions improve and the situation returns to normal. It is worth noting that Kuwait remains committed to its responsibilities toward regional stability.
