Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Researchers have revealed alarming levels of microplastic particles in bottled water. These particles may infiltrate the body and settle in vital organs.

Which increases the risk of developing serious diseases such as cancer.

A new study, conducted by Concordia University in Canada, indicated that people who regularly drink bottled water swallow approximately 90,000 additional fine plastic particles annually. This is in contrast to those who rely on tap water.

Research has shown that these particles, which are less than two micrometers in size, can easily travel to the body. They spread through food, water, and air.

Evidence suggests that it may cause chronic infections, hormonal disorders, nerve damage, and even serious diseases such as cancer.

The study showed that microplastic particles are formed during manufacturing, storage and transportation.

This means that consuming bottled water puts these particles directly into the body, without going through the natural filtration process.

These particles have been found in lung tissue, placenta, breast milk, and even blood.

In another study, Australian researchers found that microplastics can alter the gut microbiome.

Which may be associated with an increased risk of bowel cancer and depression.

The researchers considered these results the first human evidence linking microplastics to healthy changes in the intestines.
