Exclusive, Voice of Emirates – Researcher and political analyst Tariq Abu Zainab confirmed, in a statement to the “Voice of Emirates” website, that the Arab region and the world are witnessing today the launch of the most dangerous shift in the American counter-terrorism doctrine in decades.
Abu Zeinab explained that President Donald Trump’s administration, through its new “2026 strategy”,
It has moved from the stage of pursuing terrorist cells to the stage of “dismantling ideological systems.”
These systems produce extremism and provide it with political cover.
Eradicating ideological roots
Abu Zeinab pointed out that Washington has placed the Muslim Brotherhood at the heart of this global confrontation.
As the “ideological and organizational origin” from which organizations such as Al-Qaeda, ISIS, and Hamas emerged.
He added that the American strategy is no longer merely a security update.
Rather, it is a declaration of open intelligence and military war against the environment of political Islam,
which Washington considers the primary breeding ground for terrorism.
Abu Zeinab stressed that this trend was translated into decisive executive decisions,
most notably the classification of the “Islamic Group” in Lebanon as a foreign terrorist organization in January 2026.
This is followed by strict financial and security measures, in conjunction with similar classifications
that have affected the group’s branches in Egypt and Jordan.
Iran and Hezbollah: A direct confrontation
In his analysis of the Iranian situation, Abu Zainab told “Voice of Emirates” that Tehran topped the list of threats to US national security.
He clarified that the new strategy does not target only the nuclear program.
Rather, it seeks to dry up the massive funding networks that feed Iran’s proxies in the region, foremost among them “Hezbollah”.
Abu Zeinab confirmed that there is a clear return to the “offensive doctrine,”
as Trump granted field commanders broad powers to carry out direct and rapid strikes against terrorist targets.
This is how the traditional political constraints that characterized previous administrations were overcome,
meaning that the rules of engagement in the Middle East have become more flexible and unified.
Lebanon’s future under pressure
Abu Zeinab warned that Lebanon has become a major battleground in this strategy.
Washington is placing groups linked to the Tehran axis and political Islam
under the microscope of sanctions and international financial prosecution.
He concluded his statement to “Voice of Emirates” by emphasizing that the American message is clear:
“No compromises and no middle ground.”
Indeed, there is tireless work to dismantle the organizational and intellectual structures that threaten global stability.
This will have profound repercussions on the Lebanese and regional landscape in the coming period.
