Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed on Sunday the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the riots, attacks, and attempts to vandalize property that targeted the embassy of the sisterly United Arab Emirates. These acts also targeted the residence of the head of its mission in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
Rejecting insults to national symbols
In an official statement, the Ministry emphasized the Kingdom’s categorical rejection of the unacceptable insults directed at the national symbols of the United Arab Emirates. It asserted that such actions contravene diplomatic norms and the ethical values shared by the countries of the region. This Saudi stance underscores its complete solidarity with its brothers in the UAE against any attempts to undermine its sovereignty, its symbols, or its diplomatic missions.
Emphasis on international protection and agreements
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in its statement, emphasized the necessity of adhering to relevant international laws and agreements, foremost among them the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. This convention obligates host countries to provide full protection to diplomatic missions and their staff. The Kingdom reiterated its rejection of all forms of violence and sabotage targeting diplomatic premises. It called for respect for the inviolability of diplomatic missions and for ensuring the safety and security of their members under all circumstances.
This Saudi statement reflects a continued commitment to the stability of diplomatic operations in the region. It also underscores the rejection of turning diplomatic missions into arenas for settling political scores or engaging in acts of violence. This ensures the preservation of official communication channels and the protection of diplomatic personnel working in the field.
