Abu Dhabi, UAE – The UAE Powerlifting Team will participate in the Asian and Oceania Championship scheduled to be held in the Thai capital, Bangkok, from April 7 to 12.
Seven male and female players are participating in the tournament: Muhammad Khamis, Abdullah Al-Naqbi, Ahmed Al-Balushi, Mansour Al-Marzouqi, Fahd Ali, Haifa Al-Naqbi, and Moza Al-Zayoudi.
Dhiban Al Muhairi, Secretary General of the National Paralympic Committee, confirmed that the tournament is a qualifying stage for participation in the 2026 Asian Games in Japan next October.
He pointed out the National Paralympic Committee’s keenness to participate in the tournament and provide all the requirements that contribute to raising the competitive levels of male and female players.
In addition to supporting the continuation of qualification paths to the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games, he praised the clubs’ cooperation in implementing preparation programs for all tournaments.
