Abu Dhabi, UAE – His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, held a telephone conversation with Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
During the call, Barzani expressed his strong condemnation of the terrorist attack that targeted the President’s residence in Duhok Governorate.
He also affirmed the UAE’s support for all efforts that enhance security and stability in the brotherly Republic of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
Affirming support for security and stability
During the call, the UAE President reiterated the UAE’s unwavering support for Iraq’s sovereignty and national security.
He also emphasized the importance of regional cooperation to counter
any threats targeting civilians or vital infrastructure in the region.
For his part, Nechirvan Barzani expressed his gratitude and appreciation
for the UAE’s fraternal stance towards Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
He stressed the importance of continued coordination between the two sides to maintain regional security.
Ongoing Iranian aggression
The call also addressed Iran’s ongoing attacks against the UAE and other countries in the region, targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure.
The President of the Kurdistan Region reiterated his condemnation of these terrorist acts,
noting that they constitute a flagrant violation of international law and the UN Charter.
He further explained that these attacks undermine regional and international peace and security.
The phone call reflects the UAE’s continued efforts to strengthen regional cooperation with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
This cooperation aims to counter any terrorist threats and ensure regional stability,
thereby supporting peace and security and enhancing the protection of civilians and vital infrastructure.
