Abu Dhabi, UAE – Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to His Highness the President of the UAE, affirmed that raising public awareness and protecting society against misleading media campaigns is a fundamental pillar in defending national achievements. He emphasized that wars and major crises have historically been accompanied by the emergence of rumors and systematic attempts at disinformation targeting the home front.
The weapon of rumors in times of crisis
In an important post on his official X platform, Dr. Gargash explained that history teaches us that conflicts are not only waged on the battlefield. They extend to include psychological and information warfare. He stated, “Throughout history, wars have been linked to rumors and attempts at disinformation, so being wary of them is a national responsibility.”
Gargash noted that the United Arab Emirates, with its leadership and people, stands today in a firm and unwavering position against Iranian aggression. He emphasized that this resilience on the ground and in the political arena must be accompanied by vigilant public and media awareness. He added that the responsibility of individuals and media institutions lies in resolutely countering the enemy’s propaganda. This responsibility also includes blocking any attempts to promote or disseminate it.
A vision for overcoming the crisis
With a tone brimming with confidence in national capabilities, the diplomatic advisor reassured the public that the country was moving confidently towards ending the current tension. He said, “We are now on the verge of decisively overcoming this crisis, so do not allow rumors to create confusion or exaggerate the situation.”
