Abu Dhabi, UAE – The United Arab Emirates issued a strongly worded official statement affirming its legitimate self-defense against what it described as a “brutal and unjustified Iranian aggression.”
The statement emphasized that the country is facing a military campaign that has directly targeted its infrastructure and civilian sites.
This constitutes a flagrant violation of international norms and conventions.
Aggression exceeding 1400 aerial threats
The UAE authorities revealed the extent of the threats faced by its defense systems,
reporting the detection and launch of more than 1,400 ballistic missiles and drones targeting the country’s interior.
The data indicated that these attacks were not limited to military targets but also struck populated civilian areas.
As a result, innocent civilians of various nationalities were killed and wounded.
The UAE considered this escalation a grave violation of international law and the UN Charter,
and a blatant infringement on its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Furthermore, it deemed it a direct threat to regional and international security and stability,
emphasizing that the deliberate targeting of civilian infrastructure renders the perpetrators liable to international accountability.
Adherence to sovereignty and the legitimate right of response
Despite the gravity of the situation, the UAE reaffirmed its diplomatic principles.
It emphasized that it does not seek to be drawn into any further conflicts or military escalation in the region.
However, it delivered a firm message to the international community and to the aggressors,
stating that restraint does not equate to complacency in protecting the homeland.
The statement affirmed the UAE’s “full right to take all necessary measures” to protect its sovereignty and national security.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that ensuring the safety and security of citizens and residents in the UAE is a top priority.
It also stressed that the UAE’s actions will always be based on the provisions of international law,
which guarantee the right of self-defense for any state subjected to armed aggression on its territory.
These statements come at a time when the UAE’s air defenses continue to demonstrate their high efficiency in neutralizing the vast majority of threats.
This is evident amidst broad international support for Abu Dhabi’s position calling for an end to Iranian violations and the preservation of peace in the Arabian Gulf region.
