Abu Dhabi, UAE – The UAE Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced the decision to switch to a distance learning system for students, educational and administrative staff in all government and private schools and universities across the country, starting from Monday, March 2, 2026 until Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

Highlights
  • Reasons for the decision
  • Scope of application
  • Monitoring the situation
  • Commitment to educational continuity
  • Periodic assessment

Reasons for the decision

The two ministries explained that the decision was made to ensure the safety of students, teaching and administrative staff, while monitoring the current situation, with the condition to be reassessed during the week to determine the need for any further extension of the distance learning period.

Scope of application

The decision includes all educational stages in public and private schools, as well as universities, so that all educational activities will be transferred to digital platforms and the distance learning system during the specified period.

Monitoring the situation

The two ministries confirmed that developments will be monitored closely, and any subsequent measures will be taken to ensure the continuity of the educational process and the safety of all concerned parties, with any possible modifications being announced if needed.

Commitment to educational continuity

The relevant authorities stressed that the distance learning system will be effective and continuous, with the necessary support provided to students and teachers to ensure that the decision does not affect the educational process and the level of academic achievement.

Periodic assessment

The two ministries explained that a reassessment of the situation will take place during the week to determine whether it is necessary to extend the period of distance learning or return to in-person learning normally, in accordance with health and public safety conditions.
