Abu Dhabi, UAE – The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the Iranian attacks targeting the sisterly Sultanate of Oman, considering these hostile acts a dangerous escalation, a flagrant violation of state sovereignty, and a direct threat to the region’s security and stability.
A firm rejection of expanding the scope of attacks
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, affirmed that expanding the scope of attacks to include brotherly and friendly nations is unacceptable and condemned by all legal and political standards, stressing that such practices constitute a clear violation of international law and the principles of good neighborliness.
It explained that the continuation of this escalatory approach will only deepen tensions in the region and drag it into further instability, at a time when regional and international circumstances necessitate strengthening de-escalation and dialogue.
Undermining regional de-escalation efforts
The statement stressed that these attacks undermine efforts to de-escalate tensions and obstruct diplomatic endeavors to maintain regional peace and security, affirming that the security of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states is indivisible.
The UAE also reiterated its full solidarity with the Sultanate of Oman and its support for all measures taken by Oman to protect its sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.
A call for restraint and diplomatic solutions
The UAE called for an immediate cessation of all military and escalatory actions and urged a return to political and diplomatic solutions to resolve disputes, thereby protecting the peoples of the region and sparing them the repercussions of further tension.
In closing, the UAE emphasized the importance of adhering to the principles of the UN Charter and international law, which guarantee respect for the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs, and promote regional and international stability.
