Abu Dhabi, UAE – The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the blatant Iranian missile attacks that targeted its territory and several other brotherly countries in the region this morning. It described these acts as a “flagrant violation of national sovereignty.” Moreover, it deemed them a clear breach of the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
Gulf solidarity and unity of destiny
In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed the UAE’s full solidarity and unwavering support for the brotherly nations targeted by this missile attack.
The Ministry emphasized that “the security of brotherly nations is indivisible.” It also asserted that any infringement upon the sovereignty of any of these nations is a direct threat to the security and stability of the entire region. Therefore, this necessitates a unified and firm stance.
The UAE reiterated its categorical rejection of the use of the region’s territories as arenas
for settling political scores or expanding the scope of military conflict.
The UAE further warned of the grave consequences of the continuation of these violations,
stressing that they not only undermine regional and international security
but also directly threaten the stability of the global economy and energy security at a critical juncture for the world.
The legitimate right to respond and condolences to the victim of treachery
While the UAE called for restraint and diplomatic solutions as the best way to overcome the crisis, it firmly affirmed its “full and legitimate right to respond to these attacks.” This response guarantees the protection of its sovereignty and the safety of its citizens and residents. It stressed that it will not compromise on its security under any circumstances.
The Ministry concluded its statement by offering its deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the family of the Pakistani victim who died as a result of shrapnel from the missile attacks in Abu Dhabi. The UAE also affirmed its full solidarity with his family. Furthermore, it reiterated its condemnation of the targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure. This act is rejected by all international laws and humanitarian norms.
