Dubai, UAE – His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, and His Excellency Jürgen Park, Minister of Economy, Innovation, Digitization and Energy and Deputy Prime Minister of the German state of Saarland, discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the fields of renewable and clean energy.
The meeting highlighted the keenness of both the UAE and Germany to accelerate the global transformation in the energy sector and promote innovation in clean technologies.
In addition to expanding the horizons of partnerships supporting climate action and sustainable economic growth.
His Excellency Al Tayer also reviewed the Authority’s most prominent projects and strategic initiatives that enhance Dubai’s position as a global center for clean energy and green economy solutions.
His Excellency spoke about the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world under the autonomous energy producer model.
Its production capacity will reach more than 8,000 megawatts by 2030.
The complex plays a pivotal role in achieving Dubai’s Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Emirate of Dubai’s Carbon Neutrality Strategy 2050.
Which aims to provide 100% of Dubai’s energy production capacity from clean sources by 2050.
His Excellency also highlighted the pioneering green hydrogen project implemented by the Authority in the complex, which is the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa region to produce hydrogen using solar energy.
The project supports research and development efforts and explores the potential of using green hydrogen as a clean fuel in the transportation and industrial sectors.
In addition to energy storage, which contributes to developing a sustainable hydrogen economy.
His Excellency Al Tayer stressed that the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority continues to adopt the latest technologies in the fields of renewable energy, smart grids, energy storage, and digital transformation.
To enhance efficiency, reliability and sustainability in all its operations.
He also renewed the Authority’s commitment to enhancing international cooperation and exchanging experiences to accelerate the pace of innovation in clean and renewable energy solutions.
For his part, Baraka praised the UAE’s ambitious goals in the clean energy sector, and the Authority’s pioneering role in implementing major renewable energy projects.
