Al Ain, UAE – Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club was crowned champion of the Jiu-Jitsu Championship as part of the “Hafit Sports Challenge”.
Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club came in second, and Al Jazira Jiu-Jitsu Club came in third.
This came at the conclusion of the competitions held at Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club on Friday, with wide participation from players in the under-14, under-16 and under-18 categories from various clubs and state academies.
The fights were held under an open belt system, which enhanced the level of challenge among the participants, allowed the players to interact with various schools and styles, and contributed to raising the competitive level among different age groups.
The Hafeet Sports Challenge is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in Al Ain Region, and today it is the largest sporting event in Al Ain.
With the participation of more than 4,000 athletes competing in 36 different games, reflecting the great support enjoyed by the sports sector in the region.
Al Ain Club player Rashid Mohammed Al Hammadi, who won bronze in the under-16 55 kg category, expressed his pride in the medal.
He pointed out to me that open belt fights were challenging.
“I faced players in different styles in this tournament, and I had to focus and adapt to each fight,” he said. The open belt system gave me the opportunity to rub at various levels, which helped me gain more experience and improve my performance. I am happy to win the medal, and I thank my coaches for their support during the competitions.
The tournament concluded its activities amidst a competitive atmosphere and a remarkable audience presence, reflecting the growing status of Jiu-Jitsu among community sporting events in Al Ain.
