Abu Dhabi, UAE – The UAE, through the Emirates International Aid Agency, provided urgent relief aid to support those affected by the recent floods in the friendly Republic of Mozambique.
Which resulted in the death of dozens of people and damage to large residential areas.
The UAE’s urgent relief aid comes within the framework of its international commitment and humanitarian responsibilities towards extending a helping hand, providing relief to the afflicted, and standing with those in need as a result of natural disasters and climate crises in various parts of the world.
In line with the UAE’s foreign aid policy on the one hand, and reflecting cooperation with UN and international organizations and local institutions in beneficiary countries on the other hand.
Mozambique has witnessed heavy rains accompanied by widespread floods since the beginning of last January.
Especially in the southern and central regions, this has resulted in significant human and material losses, led to the displacement of large numbers of people, and damaged infrastructure and basic services.
The agency provided shelter supplies, necessary food, medical medicines, and therapeutic vaccines for cholera to all affected community groups, including men, women, and children.
It is worth noting that basic food supplies will be provided by purchasing from the local market in Mozambique in coordination with the UAE Embassy.
With the aim of ensuring a rapid urgent relief response and supporting the local economy.
