Abu Dhabi, UAE – The Organizing Committee of the Masters Games – Abu Dhabi 2026 announced the participation of more than 6,500 Emirati male and female athletes in the global event competitions, which will continue until February 15.
Mohammed Al Rumaithi, Director of Basic Services at the Masters Games, said that the UAE’s participation in the Games is the largest.
This represents 29%, out of 140 nationalities.
Indian citizenship came in second place with 3,900 male and female players, representing 17%.
Philippine citizenship came in third place with 2,800 male and female players, representing 12%, followed by Russian citizenship with 895 male and female players, representing 4%.
This was followed by Egyptian citizenship with 782 male and female players, representing 3.5%.
Al Rumaithi explained that the percentage of participants from within the Emirates alone reached 74%, and from abroad it reached 26%.
In terms of the most registered sports, athletics came out on top with more than 4,190 participations.
Then swimming with more than 1240 participations, rowing, and kayaking with more than 600 participations.
The number of elderly participants aged 50 years and over reached 5,030 male and female participants, representing 25% of the total athletes.
