Dubai, UAE – Mohammed Yousef, a player in the UAE national team for people with disabilities, won the UAE’s first gold medal in the Fazza International Athletics Championships for people with disabilities “Grand Prix – Dubai 2026”.
It is currently being held at the Dubai Club for People of Determination with the participation of 500 male and female players from 56 countries, which qualifies for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.
Mohamed Youssef achieved first place in the 100-meter wheelchair race for the “T34” category with a time of 15 seconds.
He defeated Tunisian Paralympic champion Walid Katila, who won 6 gold and 3 silver in the London, Rio, Tokyo and Paris tournaments.
He came in second with a time of 15.39 seconds, while our player Ahmed Nawad won the bronze medal with a time of 15.97 seconds.
Majed Al-Osaimi, President of the Asian Paralympic Committee and Director of the Fazza International Championships for People with Disabilities, praised the outstanding performance presented by Mohammed Youssef.
He stressed that he is making steady steps towards achieving more accomplishments on the global stage.
He pointed out that the player is one of the fruits of Fazza’s championships, which contributed to discovering him and refining his talent.
He stressed the need to prepare it in the best possible way in preparation for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games
For his part, player Mohamed Youssef expressed his happiness at winning the gold medal.
He stressed that this achievement represents a great motivation for him in the upcoming events that are of special importance in his sporting career.
