Abu Dhabi, UAE – The match between Al Wahda and Al Ahly Saudi ended in a goalless draw. The two teams met on Monday evening as part of the AFC Champions League Elite competition.
The match was held at Al Nahyan Stadium, as part of the seventh round of the Asian Championship.
Al-Ahly Saudi entered the match with clear focus, and succeeded in imposing its style by possessing the ball during periods of the first half, with early pressure on Al-Wahda’s defenses.
Despite their relative control, Al-Ahly players lacked precision in the attacking third, as they were ineffective in front of the goal, and the team only managed a few limited attempts that did not pose a real threat, most notably shots from outside the penalty area.
On the other hand, Al Wahda of the UAE relied on defensive organization and good spread within the field, while securing its back areas and limiting the danger of Al Ahly’s attacks.
The Emirati team resorted to quick counter-attacks, exploiting the spaces behind the opponent’s defense, and almost reached Al-Ahly’s goal on more than one occasion, but the final touch prevented any goals from being scored.
With this result, Al-Ahly raised its tally to 14 points in second place, while Al-Wahda came in fourth place with the same tally.
