Muscat, Sultanate of Oman – The UAE wheelchair basketball team opened its participation in the Fifth West Asian Paralympic Games “Muscat 2026” by defeating the Sultanate of Oman team with a score of 54-47, in its first match in the tournament.
The wheelchair basketball team is the first Emirati team to compete as part of the country’s delegation to the tournament.
Which witnesses the UAE’s participation in 8 Paralympic sports out of 9 sports included in the tournament.
This will take place from February 3 to 8 in the Sultanate of Oman.
The course is organized and supervised by the Omani Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.
In cooperation with the Oman Paralympic Committee and the West Asia Paralympic Federation.
As part of the preparations, the UAE teams for people with disabilities organized training upon their arrival in Muscat, as part of an intensive technical program in preparation for the start of the official competitions.
The athletics, badminton, and wheelchair basketball teams, in addition to goalball, began their first training sessions.
As it is one of the first games to start its competitions within the tournament.
