Dubai, UAE – The UAE government and the World Economic Forum (WEF) have launched a new phase of their comprehensive strategic partnership, reflecting the deep-rooted relationship between the two sides.
This new phase aims to expand areas of joint cooperation and strengthen international partnerships focused on shaping the future and creating opportunities.
The partnership extension agreement was signed in the presence of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority,
during an official event held on the sidelines of the 56th World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
agreement was signed by His Excellency Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and a member of the WEF Leadership Council,
and Børge Brende, President and Chief Executive of the World Economic Forum,
in the presence of several senior international leaders and officials.
International cooperation
His Excellency Mohammed Al Gergawi affirmed that this partnership embodies the vision of the UAE,
under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State,
and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, aimed at strengthening international cooperation and building effective partnerships
with influential global organizations, in order to enable governments and societies to participate in shaping a more sustainable future.
Innovative initiatives
Al Gergawi noted that the nearly 25-year collaboration between the UAE and the World Economic Forum has contributed
to launching innovative initiatives and establishing new models of integration
between governments, the private sector, and international organizations,
stemming from a belief in the importance of knowledge and experience sharing as a key driver of positive change.
For his part, Børge Brende explained that the partnership with the UAE is based on mutual trust, shared ambition, and a long-term commitment.
He emphasized that the new agreement provides both sides with greater flexibility to engage
with future opportunities and develop innovative solutions to global challenges.
The partnership focuses on strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors,
supporting centers for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, accelerating the application of science and technology,
and developing impactful initiatives in the areas of the future of water and regulatory innovation.
It also includes organizing the Global Future Councils for the next five years and enhancing
the participation of UAE leaders in the Forum’s regional and global events, most notably the annual meeting in Davos,
thus solidifying the UAE’s role as a key player in shaping the global future agenda.
