Abu Dhabi, UAE – Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar), in collaboration with the China International Business Association (CIBA), concluded the Blue Economy Forum, held as part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.
The forum featured extensive discussions and the signing of significant international partnerships aimed at strengthening global cooperation in the areas of sustainability and water security.
The forum was organized within the framework of a strategic partnership between Masdar and CIBA.
It attracted a distinguished group of leaders and decision-makers from multilateral institutions and development banks.
In addition, government officials, business leaders, and prominent figures from across Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa attended.
Challenges of climate change
Participants discussed ways to bring about a qualitative transformation in water resource management, enhance reliance on innovative technological solutions,
and build more resilient systems capable of adapting to the challenges of climate change.
This will support sustainable growth in the medium and long term.
The forum was attended by His Excellency Patrick Hermini, President of the Republic of Seychelles.
Keynote addresses were also delivered by Her Excellency Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak Al Shamsi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment.
Additionally, Eduardo Pedrosa, Executive Director of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Secretariat, participated.
Cross-border cooperation
In a bid to bolster international cooperation, the China International Business Association (CIBA) hosted the launch of a report titled “Focusing on Climate Technology: Artificial Intelligence for Sustainability.”
The event was attended by over 120 dignitaries, including heads of state, ministers, and business executives from around the world.
The report addressed the role of artificial intelligence in supporting efforts to mitigate and adapt to climate change.
Mohammed Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar, emphasized that the forum represents
a crucial platform for supporting global water security and strengthening international cooperation.
He also noted that the forum’s outcomes provide impetus for continued dialogue on the blue economy.
This is particularly significant as the UAE prepares to co-host the UN Water Conference in December with Senegal.
William Wang, CIBA’s Chief Representative for the Middle East and Africa,
stressed that achieving sustainability requires cross-border and cross-sectoral collaboration.
He further explained that the forum outlined ambitious pathways that combine innovation
and the blue economy to ensure a better future for humanity and the planet.
