Abu Dhabi, UAE – The United Arab Emirates welcomed the announcement by the administration of US President Donald Trump designating several branches of the Muslim Brotherhood in Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt as terrorist organizations. The UAE considered the move a significant development in international efforts to combat extremism and terrorism and cut off their funding sources.
In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the US decision reflects a clear and consistent approach adopted by the Trump administration. This approach addresses the activities of the Muslim Brotherhood branches and the direct threat they pose to security and stability, both regionally and internationally. The Ministry emphasized that these branches have, through numerous experiences, played subversive roles. These roles have contributed to destabilization and the spread of violence and hatred in several countries.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that designating these branches as terrorist organizations is a pivotal measure. The measure aims to deprive them of the financial and organizational resources that enable them to continue, support, or justify extremist activities. The Ministry stressed that cutting off funding sources is a fundamental pillar of any effective counterterrorism strategy.
The UAE reaffirmed its unwavering support for all international and regional efforts aimed at combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. The UAE is committed to strengthening security and stability in the region and the world. It emphasized that international cooperation and joint coordination among nations are the most effective means of confronting extremist organizations and their violent ideologies.
This Emirati stance stems from its longstanding policy of rejecting violence and extremism, and supporting the principles of tolerance and peaceful coexistence. The UAE also upholds respect for the sovereignty of nations and non-interference in their internal affairs. This reflects the UAE’s commitment to supporting all initiatives that contribute to protecting societies from the dangers of terrorism and extremist ideology, and to promoting stability and sustainable development at both the regional and international levels.
