Sharjah, UAE – Sharjah Football Stars Week kicks off on Wednesday.
Organized by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, it will continue until January 12.
The event is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Chairman of the Executive Council.
The event aims to enhance Sharjah’s presence on the global sports tourism map and promote its prominent destinations and landmarks.
In addition to diversifying tourism experiences and activities to enrich the emirate’s events agenda throughout the year, it also emphasizes the advanced capabilities and potential the emirate possesses to host and host major international events with high efficiency.
Both the tourism and sports sectors are complementary.
Major sporting events play a pivotal role in stimulating tourism, attracting visitors, and enhancing the emirate’s position as a global destination.
Estimates based on data from the United Nations Tourism Organization indicate that sports tourism represents about 10% of total global spending on tourism, making it one of the fastest growing sectors in the world.
Sharjah Football Stars Week includes a number of distinguished sports competitions, as the Sharjah Padel Stars League will be held on January 10.
Players from the most prominent international football stars and legends are competing for the championship at the International Padel Academy in the Emirate of Sharjah.
On January 11, a football match will be held between the game’s retired international legends under the title “Night of Football Stars”.
It includes a friendly football match in which 36 players from the game’s most prominent international stars and legends participate.
Among them are Fabio Cannavaro, David Trezeguet, Essam El-Hadary, Mido, John Terry, Eric Abidal, Fernando Llorente, Schneider, Roberto Baggio and many other prominent international football legends.
The final matches of the Sharjah International Foot Golf Championship will also be held, with the participation of football legends who join the event with the tournament participants.
The event includes tourist tours, friendly matches and heroic competitions held in the Emirate of Sharjah.
With the aim of informing international sports stars of the emirate’s diverse and rich tourism and entertainment options.
