Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – Dr. Hamad Karaki, President General of the Asia-Pacific Robotics Cup “Robocop 2025” and Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering at Khalifa University of Science and Technology, confirmed that the “Robocop 2025” Championship, hosted by the university within the activities of Abu Dhabi Self-Movement Systems Week, constitutes a global platform for exchanging knowledge and promoting technological progress Artificial intelligence and robotics technologies are a fundamental pillar in building a sustainable knowledge economy.
He said in statements on the sidelines of the official opening of “Robocop 2025” today at ADNEC Abu Dhabi that artificial intelligence and robotics technologies are the main driver for achieving “We Are the Emirates Vision 2031” and the “National Strategy for Industry”.
It represents the cornerstone of building an advanced knowledge economy and supports the state’s drive to develop government work using artificial intelligence technologies, as well as 100% digitization of operations.
He added that these innovations play an important role in serving vital and strategic sectors.
They are employed in areas such as healthcare, disaster response, and smart city development.
Our efforts in hosting an event like Robocop are also in line with Abu Dhabi’s vision to be a global hub for innovation and technology.
Regarding the university’s efforts to organize the “Asia-Pacific Robotics Cup “Robocop 2025”, he pointed out that Khalifa University led intensive preparations to host this international event through the local organizing committee, through the “Strategic Program for Autonomous Robotics Challenges” initiative.
Which played a pivotal role in various aspects of the organization, including coordinating volunteers, providing interactive presentations, supporting competitions, and training students.
He stated that the university worked effectively to involve regional and international partners from the academic, industrial and governmental sectors to ensure the success of the event.
It also participates in competitions through its distinguished teams.
He stressed that the event is receiving great global attention, with the participation of more than 700 contestants and teams from 22 countries.
These include Singapore, which has 22 teams, Japan, which has 19 teams, the Russian Federation, which has 18 teams, and the People’s Republic of China, which has 10 teams.
The UAE participates with five teams.
He explained that hosting “Robocop 2025” is closely consistent with Khalifa University’s mission.
It is a confirmation of the global university’s leading position in the field of robotics.
It also contributes to accelerating its efforts to promote innovation, scientific research, and develop national cadres.
