The United Arab Emirates is preparing to celebrate Union Day in the coming December, and in this context, memories return to the efforts of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan,
may God rest his soul, who was not only the founder of the Union State
but also a symbol of political wisdom and calm diplomacy in an Arab
and regional environment that was full of conflicts and upheavals.
The voice of Arab wisdom in regional issues
Since the establishment of the UAE in 1971, Sheikh Zayed sought for his country’s policy to be open and balanced,
based on the principles of mutual respect and non-interference in the affairs of others,
which earned the UAE a prestigious position on the international stage.
Sheikh Zayed believed that joint Arab action was the way to protect the nation;
he supported its major causes and provided political
and economic support to sister countries in times of crisis,
believing that Arab solidarity is the cornerstone of stability.
His stance on the Arab-Israeli conflict
Sheikh Zayed’s position on the Palestinian cause was characterized by firmness and clarity;
he considered it the central issue of the Arabs
and repeatedly called for unity among Arab ranks
to support the Palestinian people until they gain
their legitimate rights and establish their state.
