N’Djamena, Chad – Global South Utilities, a subsidiary of Resources Investment in Abu Dhabi, announced that it will supply approximately 274,000 homes in Chad with clean electricity.

This was done through the 50-megawatt Noor Chad solar power plant, which was inaugurated on Sunday in the capital, N’Djamena.

The opening was attended by the Minister of State and Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Republic of Chad, Mohamed Ahmed El Habou, and a number of government ministers.

Along with Ali Al Shamri, Managing Director and CEO of Global South Utilities, and Rashid Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to Chad.

The Nour Chad station is the first project of its kind of this size in the country, and it was implemented in record time.

To form a prominent station in the energy sector and the beginning of future projects in the field of renewable energy.

The station combines 50 megawatts of solar energy with a 5 megawatt-hour battery energy storage system.

It is expected to contribute to reducing more than 1.36 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions throughout its operation.

Global South Utilities confirmed that it will operate the station, which represents a qualitative transformation in Chad.

This is done by providing a stable and widespread source of clean energy to meet the growing demand for electricity and reduce dependence on imported diesel.

Ali Al-Shammari said that this project is the first implemented by the company from signing to operation in Africa.

He added that it is proof of the ability of markets to move quickly when there is the will and effective partnerships capable of turning challenges into opportunities.

He added that the project is linked to providing solutions and services to people, by enabling families and communities to thrive through sustainable provision of clean energy.
